Editing my review because the response was also edited. Dr. Stoerner only tested for Lyme because I asked, and while it was considered negative, there were antibodies detected. I also had high CCP antibody which he completely misread because he seemed confused about the reference range and ignored it. He had me tested for HEP C for some unknown reason, and vitamin B??. RF Factor was negative but that was all he tested for. I have finally found a physician who listens, does not insult my intelligence (or my fingers), and is testing for the full range of AI indicators. I am positive for ANA, so thanks for not testing that. What kind of rheumatologist are you??? Do you think you can look at someone and make a diagnosis??? Absolutely pointless. Took ages to get the appt, and then I finally saw him I was at first encouraged by how long he took to take my history. Then without any tests told me there was nothing to be done, I am going to have "witch fingers"!!!, and its just some progressive arthritis that is my tough luck. This after I described decades of pain starting in childhood, tick bites etc etc. He ordered tests for b vitamin levels and the least sensitive Lyme antibody test, which even though the results DID show an infection at some point, he determined was negative. So, I waited months and months to be given a diagnosis of "Witch Fingers" (actual, stupid words) and absolutely the laziest, least curious or caring testing, and a shrug of a reading of the results. I would *never* recommend this guy, and I cannot imagine that his actual patients voted in the "Best of ABQ" thing.

Dr. Shukla has been amazing! He is very thorough with his explanations with plan of care. He doesn’t seem rushed during our visits and his bedside manner is just great! We have been very pleased with him and the radiology staff. We are so grateful for him and his care and optimism.

Everyone from check in to check out was exceptional. They were friendly, Compassionate and helpful. Dr. Shukla is very caring, understanding and professional regarding personal and medical situations during the appointment. I am very impressed with his knowledge, his professionalism, and his concern for my well-being. I feel that I could talk freely with him and he listened completely and intently.

I noticed a lump on the palm of my right hand in October of 2025. Subsequently, I was diagnosed with Dupuytren Disease in December of 2025 and saw two hand surgeons in January 2026. Each surgeon asked me to return when a contracture (bending of the finger) occurred. Not wanting to wait until the disease progressed to contracture, I looked for other treatments. Through Dupuytren's Advocates for Radiation Therapy (DART) on Facebook, I learned that radiation therapy has been used in the early stages of the disease that slowed or stop the disease in many patients. From the same Facebook group, I learned that NMCC provided radiation therapy for Dupuytren's patients. I made an appointment with Dr. Johnson and had my first consultation in February. During my visit, Dr Johnson conducted a thorough and detailed exam. He asked me many questions and then listened to my concerns, fears, and desires. We decided that I would monitor the disease independently and the return in August. About a month later, I noticed some changes in my hand (tightness in my ring finger and an itchy feeling in the palm of my hand, which has been associated with active disease). I reached out to NMCC and within one day I received a phone call from Dr. Johnson! He spent more than 30 minutes talking through my symptoms, providing me with feedback that helped me decide to move my appointment from August to May. He also emphatically told me to reach out if other changes occurred or if I had other questions or concerns. About six weeks later, I started to notice some increasing tightness in my ring finger. This concerned me greatly, which affected my mental well-being. Again, I reached out to NMCC and less than a week later, I was seeing Dr. Johnson. During this appointment, Dr. Johnson had come prepared to meet with me. He had received more information from one of the hand surgeons with whom I consulted and shared with me a newly released research study on the effectiveness of radiation therapy on Dupuytren's patients. He thoroughly examined my hands and again asked me many questions and listened to my concern of missing the window of treatment before contracture set in. He stated that given the changes to the symptoms in my hand, he was prepared to start radiation therapy. He also shared that there is a 'sweet spot' to look for and that with more data points and patience on my part, we might be in a better position to find it. I decided to be patient and return in May to my previously scheduled appointment. Before leaving, Dr. Johnson provided me with more information (Dupuytren Research Group) and some additional ways to monitor the progress of disease. In closing, I shared my experience extensively because the level of response and treatment by both Dr. Johnson and NMCC deserved nothing less. I couldn't be happier with my experience and I am certain that I will receive the best care available regardless of the outcome.
